How to do well in college with minimal effort?
Question by Delilah: How to do well in college with minimal effort?
I just started college and have working really hard. I spend hours and hours everyday with homework, reviewing material, etc. I am not opposed to hard work. I would just like to have time for friends and a life outside of college without feeling guilty for not using the time to study. I work really hard because I want to do well. However, are there some short cuts for studying, learning, etc, that will save me some time? Tricks that you have learned along the way?
Thanks

There absolutely are, and your college should actually have the resources to help you out with this. The tutoring center on campus normally has seminars and materials on things like study skills, exam prep, effective note taking, etc. They can really help. Because as you suspect, sometimes there are more efficient ways to go about all this, so that you can both get your work done well *and* have a bit of time for a life outside of class.

correlation between test scores on SAT/ACT and how well someone actually does in college or in life?
Question by MLeinart7: correlation between test scores on SAT/ACT and how well someone actually does in college or in life?
I have a mild writing learning disability that makes it difficult for me to put my ideas onto paper/computer. As a result, my ACT score in math for example was high (30) but my other scores were much lower. I have always been a very strong student capable of scoring the top grades in the classes and have recently graduated from college cum laude.
I am wondering if there are any studies out there that show the correlation between the two.

Not sure, but I can tell you that SATs/ACTs don’t test much besides your short term memory.
I always scored higher on english/reading than math and science.
So I chose a career that doesn’t involve much math and science.
Look at Bill Gates, he didn’t even make it through college.
